Art of YOU!

Clinical Art Therapy with Ashley Nelson

Ashley is a registered art therapist and qualifying registered psychotherapist who created Art of YOU! with the intention of offering a positive, supportive space centered around each individual’s unique needs and experiences. She believes creative expression can be a powerful tool for healing, self-discovery, emotional processing, and personal growth.

Her approach prioritizes relational safety, client autonomy, and meeting individuals at their own pace. Whether through art-making, imagination, storytelling, or conversation, Ashley works collaboratively with clients to help them feel supported, capable, and empowered in their journey toward greater self-understanding and well-being.

At the heart of Ashley’s work is the belief that every person deserves a space where they feel seen, accepted, and encouraged to explore who they are with curiosity and compassion.

Who: Children aged 4 - 10 years.

Where: In Orillia at Heartworks Children’s Studio.

When: 50 minute sessions typically run from Monday to Friday, with starting times between 3:30 to 6:30PM depending on availability.

Why: These sessions may benefit those looking for a safe and supportive space for self-exploration, personal growth, acceptance, and creative expression.

Cost: Sessions are $160 per session. After you pay for each session, I will send you a receipt. If your insurance company covers sessions provided by a qualifying registered psychotherapist, you can submit with them for reimbursement each time!

Things to Keep in Mind:

  • Her work is primarily with the child 1:1 as a listener and teammate, not a teacher or “fixer.” While Ashley may share recommendations if their work with her signals some creative supports at home or referrals may be needed, if you require more ongoing parental involvement or behavioural changes, you may wish to look for a different art therapist.

  • Children with crisis-level needs, goals, or situations such as struggling with suicidality, self-harming behaviour, or a tendency to harm others are not suitable for her art therapy work.

She is not currently accepting new art therapy clients.
